In 2006 the Austrian MAB National Committee published a national catalogue of criteria for biosphere reserves in Austria with binding guidelines for the recognition of the UNESCO regions. As the UNESCO MAB Programme evolved, the catalogue was updated in 2015 in cooperation with numerous experts.
Additionally, in order to support the Austrian biosphere reserves the National Committee has published a position paper and a guideline.
